2ml sample of Jacques Herbin 350 Vert Atlantide shimmering fountain pen ink, in a labeled plastic vial. It is a green ink with added gold and silver shimmer.

Due to the amount of particulate in this ink used to achieve the sparking look, you may experience restricted ink flow in some of your pens. We recommend shaking the ink thoroughly before filling and gently rolling the pen in your hands often to keep the shimmer effect consistent. This will also help prevent clogging. You will also want to be diligent about cleaning and maintaining your pen when using this ink.

A nice soft green

This shade was in a set of sample vials. I had no particular expectations, just wanted to change out the ink in my everyday Lamy. It's neither especially dark or vibrant, but I like the soft almost mossy green. It's easy to read. The shimmer isn't obvious except under quite bright lighting, and at intervals seems to disappear. But overall I do think it makes for a good work a day green. No problems so far with the feed. It's not especially wet but I'm also not experiencing bleeding, nor bleed through on my better quality paper. A bit blurry and a bit of bleed through on cheap note paper. But I do really like the color and I think I will probably end up purchasing a bottle, something I rarely do.

Not my cup of tea.

Tried with a medium Lamy Safari. Didn't flow well and its opaque didn't like its lackluster dark green color.

Lovely Ink

Loved the ink. It's a beautiful color and very easy on the eyes when reading. Flowed really well in the medium nib. I even used it on regular notebook paper and liked it.

Gorgeous, looks even better in person

Lovely shade of green with the perfect hint of shimmer. I put this in my stub to give my letters & cards some extra sparkle. There's a little bit of shading with the larger nibs but nothing drastic.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is shimmering ink safe to use in fountain pens? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Yes! Shimmering ink (a fountain pen ink that has small particles of glitter mixed in) is a great way to add some flare to your writing. We have found that a larger nib will showcase more shimmering particles while writing, but you can use any nib size with shimmering ink. While it is safe to use in fountain pens, it may require a little extra maintenance.

Due to the amount of particulate in this ink used to achieve the sparking look, you may experience restricted ink flow in some of your pens, especially with finer nibs.

We recommend shaking the ink thoroughly before filling, and gently rolling the pen in your hands often to keep the shimmer effect consistent. This will also help prevent clogging.

You will also want to be diligent about regularly cleaning and maintaining your pen when using this ink.

How do I fill my fountain pen from an ink sample vial? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

The technique depends on the fountain pen's filling mechanism.

How much writing can I really do with 2ml? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We find that usually you can get 2 good fills for a typical converter with our ink samples, or one good fill with a large capacity piston-filling pen.

How much writing you can do depends on you more than anything else. It mostly depends on how big or small you write, and the nib size you’re using. We recommend experimenting with different nib sizes to find what works best for you.
