50ml Bottle

This 50ml glass bottle of Jacques Herbin 1798 Kyanite du Népal fountain pen ink is a bright blue pulling towards turquoise. It is magnified thanks to a cloud of silver glitter for powerful and elegant writing. Each bottle cap is hand dipped in sealing wax, with a stamped "1798" seal on the front of the bottle, and is individually packaged in a collector edition box.

Since the discovery of the famous mining region of Nepal, Kali Gandaki, Kyanite has been recognized as a majestic mineral because of its similarities with the rich tones of sapphire.

1798 commemorates a significant year in Jacques Herbin's history. At this time, the French Revolution was ending, and the Herbin company, founded in 1670, was growing. In 1798 the company relocated to expand their production capabilities and the influence of their inks and sealing wax.

Due to the amount of particulate in this ink used to achieve the sparking look, you may experience restricted ink flow in some of your pens. We recommend shaking the ink thoroughly before filling and gently rolling the pen in your hands often to keep the shimmer effect consistent. This will also help prevent clogging. You will also want to be diligent about cleaning and maintaining your pen when using this ink.

Great service and product

I love the color, such a cheerful shade of blue with a little sparkle. Received my order on a timely basis and it was well packaged.

Jacques Herbin 1798 Kyanite du Nepal Ink

I ordered this ink because it impressed me on the 'Inkquiring Minds' YouTube channel. I found it to be a great shimmering turquoise - blue ink that writes well in my Lamy 2000 and Diplomat Aero pens. It has great flow with a hint of shimmer when dry.

Almost Tiffany blue

This ink reminds me a lot of Tiffany blue but with a silver shimmer.

Great ink

I have used this ink for a couple of years now. Love the coloring and smooth flow. With the silver particles the tip can get clogged but it easily cleared with a rise in water and back to free flowing ink. With 1.1 stub nib the color and shading contact really comes alive. If you only use one kind of nibiru would say don't be afraid to experiment with different nibs and inks you just might like the results.

Received in a sample set

I received this ink in a surprise me sample set and am using it in a 0.3mm Platinum Preppy eyedropper converted pen. It wrote beautifully on the first stroke and unlike a previous reviewer, I had no problems with the the ink staying dried fairly quickly and didn't smudge in my Rhodia 80g notebook. The colour is a beautiful dark, yet bright, teal. It's the kind of ink that makes me happy to write and am considering treating myself to a full bottle.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which pens can accept this ink? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Any of these fountain pens will work with bottled ink. Typically, as long as the pen can be filled with a converter, has a built-in filling mechanism like a piston, or can be eyedropper-filled, it can accept bottled ink. You can also refill an empty ink cartridge from bottled ink using an ink syringe.

Is shimmering ink safe to use in fountain pens? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Yes! Shimmering ink (a fountain pen ink that has small particles of glitter mixed in) is a great way to add some flare to your writing. We have found that a larger nib will showcase more shimmering particles while writing, but you can use any nib size with shimmering ink. While it is safe to use in fountain pens, it may require a little extra maintenance.

Due to the amount of particulate in this ink used to achieve the sparking look, you may experience restricted ink flow in some of your pens, especially with finer nibs.

We recommend shaking the ink thoroughly before filling, and gently rolling the pen in your hands often to keep the shimmer effect consistent. This will also help prevent clogging.

You will also want to be diligent about regularly cleaning and maintaining your pen when using this ink.
