50ml Bottle

Part of Diamine’s Shimmertastic collection, this Blue Pearl fountain pen ink features added silver shimmer. Works best with broader nibs on high quality paper to really see the shine. Comes in a 50ml glass bottle.

Due to the amount of particulate in this ink used to achieve the sparking look, you may experience restricted ink flow in some of your pens. We recommend shaking the ink thoroughly before filling and gently rolling the pen in your hands often to keep the shimmer effect consistent. This will also help prevent clogging. You will also want to be diligent about cleaning and maintaining your pen when using this ink.

Diamine Inks alway the best

The Diamine Blue Pearl ink has that just right blue color, dark but not too dark. The silver shimmer adds that beautiful night sky look. If you want that, this is the right one.

Well-behaved for a shimmer ink.

One caveat I should mention, however, is that I'm using it in a Benu Euphoria in an M nib which has a very wet ink flow. I am impressed, I didn't expect a sheen to go along with the bright shimmer, but when I write with it in my fountain pen notebooks (Apica CD, Koyuko Campus MIO, and Tomoe River) the red sheen really pops out. Given my fondness for shimmer inks, I'm very pleased with the flow, and consistency of the shimmer, and found it easier to maintain than most. It takes just a quick tip of the pen front to back after a couple lines to keep the shimmer suspended in the converter, and it hasn't clogged or had any other issue after nearly a month of daily use.

This color!

I need this color for a fun writing experience! It's such a nice shimmery blue with so many color variants that I use it every day. Thank you for carrying this color. It dries quickly unless you are using a glossy paper (think some greeting cards).

Wonderful blue!

Take the sparkles away and I still love this deep, velvety, midnight blue ink. Add sparkles and you are in heaven. This is my first time using a shimmering-type ink, and I haven't noticed any real problems with clogging, though I am careful to turn the pen now and then, which I don't normally do with other inks. It may be that with more intermittent use, the clogging may become an issue. I tend to be a slacker about cleaning my pens, so this may bite me in the butt at some point, but so far I am loving, loving, loving, this ink.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which pens can accept this ink? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Any of these fountain pens will work with bottled ink. Typically, as long as the pen can be filled with a converter, has a built-in filling mechanism like a piston, or can be eyedropper-filled, it can accept bottled ink. You can also refill an empty ink cartridge from bottled ink using an ink syringe.

Is shimmering ink safe to use in fountain pens? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Yes! Shimmering ink (a fountain pen ink that has small particles of glitter mixed in) is a great way to add some flare to your writing. We have found that a larger nib will showcase more shimmering particles while writing, but you can use any nib size with shimmering ink. While it is safe to use in fountain pens, it may require a little extra maintenance.

Due to the amount of particulate in this ink used to achieve the sparking look, you may experience restricted ink flow in some of your pens, especially with finer nibs.

We recommend shaking the ink thoroughly before filling, and gently rolling the pen in your hands often to keep the shimmer effect consistent. This will also help prevent clogging.

You will also want to be diligent about regularly cleaning and maintaining your pen when using this ink.
