Lovely purple that isn't too bold or too mild

I thought the Bilberry did a great job providing the consistency most Diamine inks seem to bring to the table. It works well in a variety of pens and for art or writing.

Rich purple with gold sheen

A very rich purple and a beautiful gold sheen with a wet pen. Very nice ink and one of my favorite purples. This ink will smear on Tomoe River even the next day.

Nice Ink But Stained Pen

Came in a random sampler pack. I liked the color and flow. However, I left this ink in a monteverde monza over the weekend and when I cleaned the pen it had permanently stained part of the feed. Tried cleaning it with water and then isopropyl alcohol to no success. So be warned.

Beautiful color

A good alternative to baystate Concord grape. Not as vibrant but doesn't feather the way I've seen baystate does. I really like This color.

Flow issues

First, let me say that all my pens are Japanese, and all the nibs are EF. This is important because it means that with such a thin line, flow and saturation are more important to me, and drying time and shading less so. Second, Diamine Oxblood is my favorite ink, so I'm partial to Diamine. Lastly, of all the purply-blues I've used, I like the Bilberry color the best. Professional enough, yet stands out. So I really wanted to like this ink. But I've tried it in several of my pens, and in each one there's a significant delay in flow if I stop writing for a few seconds. Far too viscous - it really becomes unusable. I don't have this problem with other inks, including the Oxblood. Maybe I got a bad bottle, but I would suggest that any EF fans out there considering this ink should buy a sample from Goulet before committing to it.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fill my fountain pen from an ink sample vial? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

The technique depends on the fountain pen's filling mechanism.

How much writing can I really do with 2ml? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We find that usually you can get 2 good fills for a typical converter with our ink samples, or one good fill with a large capacity piston-filling pen.

How much writing you can do depends on you more than anything else. It mostly depends on how big or small you write, and the nib size you’re using. We recommend experimenting with different nib sizes to find what works best for you.
