Aurora Borealis

This ink is a wonderful dark teal. It writes wet, but is very gentle on worse papers. It's a good match for the color of my TWSBI 580ALR in the Prussian Blue.

Plays directly into my biases, and I love it

I may be coming into this one with a bias, since teal is my favorite color and the northern lights are one of the most amazing things I've ever seen, but this is just gorgeous. Even with an extremely fine nib, there's clear shading between lighter and darker teal, and a subtle hint of blackish red comes out around the edges of the darker lines. I love this extremely much. Additionally, it doesn't bleed through at all on Leuchtturm 1917 paper, and it seemed to dry pretty quickly (though the sheen around the edges took longer to appear). I am new enough to fountain pens and ink that I don't feel like I can accurately evaluate flow/shading/etc., but hopefully the photo will be helpful to more experienced people. I'm already quite sure I'll be buying a full bottle of this.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fill my fountain pen from an ink sample vial? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

The technique depends on the fountain pen's filling mechanism.

Check out our blog post on How to Fill a Fountain Pen from an Ink Sample Vial, or watch the video here:

How much writing can I really do with 2ml? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We find that usually you can get 2 good fills for a typical converter with our ink samples, or one good fill with a large capacity piston-filling pen.

How much writing you can do depends on you more than anything else. It mostly depends on how big or small you write, and the nib size you’re using. We recommend experimenting with different nib sizes to find what works best for you.
