Excellent Blue

My sample arrived and I am impressed. This is a great blue. The flow is smooth and I would say medium for drying. It’s definitely worth testing and buying a larger bottle of.

Blue- Not Blurple, Not Glue (greenish blue)

An excellent pure Blue, at least to my eye. Toned silvery grey. I find this shade of blue very comfortable to use for prolonged writing/reading sessions. Definitely my favorite class of blue inks. I also have the DeAtramentis Giuseppe Verdi which is almost indistinguishable, that said, the S Holmes edges it out. I also prefer it to JHerbin Bleu des Profondeurs which is darker. In the pen used for all comparisons (Aurora 88 XF) P i Shin Kai was watery looking. DA Sherlock Holmes is an excellent ink.

Light grayish blue

Lovely ink that shades to an extremely dark blue on higher quality paper. When using your run of the mill $1 spiral notebook, it stays lighter.

Great color and flow

This is my favorite of the half-dozen blue inks I've tried, and it may be my first bottle purchase. The color is a nice dark blue that looks good without screaming for attention. What sets the ink apart for me is how perfectly it flows from my Plumix, smoothly but with a fine crisp line.

Lovely color

I bought this to test out my Pilot Metro and I'm really pleased with the color and lasting power of the ink. It's not super saturated but it fades in a very good looking way. This is my first time buying ink samples and I think it's a pretty generous amount. I've been using a Leuchtturm1917, a Red n Black, and an EcoQua for testing. No recurring issues with the papers.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fill my fountain pen from an ink sample vial? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

The technique depends on the fountain pen's filling mechanism.

How much writing can I really do with 2ml? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We find that usually you can get 2 good fills for a typical converter with our ink samples, or one good fill with a large capacity piston-filling pen.

How much writing you can do depends on you more than anything else. It mostly depends on how big or small you write, and the nib size you’re using. We recommend experimenting with different nib sizes to find what works best for you.
