This blue fountain pen ink features added copper pearlescent shimmer. Shimmering inks work best with broader nibs on high quality paper to really see the shine. De Atramentis fountain pen inks are exclusively handmade in Germany by Dr. Franz-Josef Jansen, and come in a 45ml glass bottle.

Due to the amount of particulate in this ink used to achieve the sparking look, you may experience restricted ink flow in some of your pens. We recommend shaking the ink thoroughly before filling and gently rolling the pen in your hands often to keep the shimmer effect consistent. This will also help prevent clogging. You will also want to be diligent about cleaning and maintaining your pen when using this ink.

Note: De Atramentis is in the process of changing their bottled ink lids. What is pictured might differ from what you receive. We cannot honor special requests.

I love this ink!

Received a sample of it in a random-samples gift add-on and liked it so much that I bought a full bottle as soon as I saw that it was back in stock. Beautiful deep blue and dramatic shimmer! Thought it might eventually clog my pen (Diplomat Magnum, terrific nib!), but haven't had any problems.

Not as great as it looks

I saw this ink in various places and got a sample myself which seemed good; then I got a bottle, not so good. The particles in this ink must be heavier and denser than in Diamine inks because it clogs my pens and makes a mess. Not. A. Fan. Though the color is gorgeous, and I can use it with my dip pens, I'm just disappointed it will not work in a regular fountain pen, even with a larger medium nib.

Honestly surprised

Used in my pilot metropolitan as I didn't want to clog my nicer pens. I accidentally forgot about the pen and wasn't in rotation for a while with the ink still ink it. The pen's nib and feed were clogged after about 6 months of non use however a quick cleaning of the nib and feed and it was off to the races after testing on some cheap envelope paper. I am amazed at how much copper color comes through and even more amazed that the ink has not dried within the converter. Have yet to discover if it has stained the converter but I'm not thinking it has. Overall I would recommend this ink but I would probably not let it sit in the pen unused for excessively long periods of time.

Will Clogged up your pen real quick

The color is great but it will clogg up your pen extremely fast, I did all the rolling, shaking etc but no help, I suggest a double broad nib and lots of patience

Frequently Asked Questions

Which pens can accept this ink? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Any of these fountain pens will work with bottled ink. Typically, as long as the pen can be filled with a converter, has a built-in filling mechanism like a piston, or can be eyedropper-filled, it can accept bottled ink. You can also refill an empty ink cartridge from bottled ink using an ink syringe.

Is shimmering ink safe to use in fountain pens? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Yes! Shimmering ink (a fountain pen ink that has small particles of glitter mixed in) is a great way to add some flare to your writing. We have found that a larger nib will showcase more shimmering particles while writing, but you can use any nib size with shimmering ink. While it is safe to use in fountain pens, it may require a little extra maintenance.

Due to the amount of particulate in this ink used to achieve the sparking look, you may experience restricted ink flow in some of your pens, especially with finer nibs.

We recommend shaking the ink thoroughly before filling, and gently rolling the pen in your hands often to keep the shimmer effect consistent. This will also help prevent clogging.

You will also want to be diligent about regularly cleaning and maintaining your pen when using this ink.
