regal red

Since I replicate old magic texts as a hobby, I'm always on the lookout for the perfect red. This is really good for illustrations due to the regal nature of this color. It has a great brightness balance and a good contrast on aged paper.

De Atramentis Oriental Red

Ok but not was not what i wanted. Still looking for a Red. Looks like Shaefer Red i just received from Goulet Pen is the Red i have been looking for. Very good service and quick response to orders.

A darker Poppy Red.

A bit desaturated for my tastes, but it's a red. Similar to Poppy Red

The best grading ink ever!

I got this ink solely for grading papers and it is wonderful. There is a bit of feathering with it, but still smooth.

Nice true red

We test with both a glass pen and an italic plumix so we have both a wet representation and a drier one. It feathers a bit in a wet writer, but the shading in a dry writer is pretty. It's dark and enchanting. It's gorgeous if you can find a pen to do it justice.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fill my fountain pen from an ink sample vial? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

The technique depends on the fountain pen's filling mechanism.

Check out our blog post on How to Fill a Fountain Pen from an Ink Sample Vial, or watch the video here:

How much writing can I really do with 2ml? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We find that usually you can get 2 good fills for a typical converter with our ink samples, or one good fill with a large capacity piston-filling pen.

How much writing you can do depends on you more than anything else. It mostly depends on how big or small you write, and the nib size you’re using. We recommend experimenting with different nib sizes to find what works best for you.
