Beautiful, subtle color, but not even little boring

I had this ink on my Wish List when the Lamy Sage AL-star was released & bought them together. I have not been disappointed in either. This green ink leans slightly blue, not yellow, and certainly is NOT an "army green" (which is just fine for the army, but I really don't want that color in an ink). It is medium to dark, but not so dark that the color becomes indeterminate. Nor is it so grayed that it becomes "muddy". I have only one other De Atramentis ink, Dante Alighieri (gorgeous red), and both perform beautifully. Zero regrets. And I really like the well-designed, non-tippy bottles. If you'd like a green that has character and is well-mannered, Jane Austen is the ink for you.

Jane Austen ink

I absolutely love it! I'm very happy I ordered it. To me it comes off a little like olive or soft green and have it on my Twsbi Irish green fountain pen, which I also ordered.

Favorite Green

The color is like no other green and the ink itself is consistent and gorgeous to write with.

Smart and Sensible

A color that encapsulates the English countryside and the writing style of Jane Austen. It's a rich vintage shade that is suitable for the academic, and sensible for the work environment. It works well even on my cheapest paper (as pictured). I recommend if you want to feel like...-you're reading right beside Mary Bennet-you're reflecting on the past with Anne Elliot-you're critiquing theatricals with **** Price-you're writing a letter to Mr. Darcy-you're match-making with Emma.

Beautiful medium green

I bought this ink partially for the name and partially for the color, and I am very happy with it! The green is a very nice medium shade, with a lot of interesting shading . It's dark enough to be easily readable and classy, but it is very clearly green, which is what I was looking for. In my TWSBI Eco F, it flows well and has a nice line. It performs well on copy paper, although it loses the shading. When I dripped some water droplets on a sheet of Rhodia, you could still see a faint outline of the words, so it is not truly water-resistant but you could probably still re-construct your writing. I'm a lefty over-writer and haven't noticed any problems with smearing or dry time on Rhodia. I'm very pleased with this ink, as well as with Goulet's excellent packing and service.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which pens can accept this ink? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Any of these fountain pens will work with bottled ink. Typically, as long as the pen can be filled with a converter, has a built-in filling mechanism like a piston, or can be eyedropper-filled, it can accept bottled ink. You can also refill an empty ink cartridge from bottled ink using an ink syringe.
