My husband got this for me for my birthday in 2020. I use it as a diary. I haven't filled it yet, but I carry it around with me quite often, and it is still in great shape. The pages are sewn and glued, so the cover and pages can be folded back, it can be shoved with papers, you can glue stuff into it, and no chunks of notebook fall out. It lays fairly flat. The paper is lovely and smooth for my fountain pens. It also takes water based markers with no bleeding, and the ink didn't seep through the page unless I colored too much in one spot. (The photos include a page with water based marker and the other side of the page.)
It is now December 2024. I am buying another one, blank rather than dotted this time, so I can use it as a sketchbook. (m*leskine who??)
I have never used a better paper for a fountain pen than is in the Clairefontaine Basic Notebook. (I am using an Opus 88 Omar with a broad #6 JoWo loaded with Diamine Red Dragon.)There is no feathering and very little bleedthrough even with a wet writer like the Omar. The page count makes the notebook substantial without being clunky. This notebook is well made and well priced.
Great notebook for daily writing
Love clairefontaine's paper. Smooth, shows off shading and sheening well enough, but dries fairly quickly and just doesn't bleed through. I use mine as an ink/pen journal and accidentally spilled some ink on a page and that even didn't bleed.
I enjoy using this notebook. It's higher quality paper than I'm used to, so I have to get used to the pen feeling like it's sliding around a bit. The binding is very well done and the price is reasonable.
