White ink!

This white ink is stark and beautiful on my very matte black paper. Works great with my TWSBI Eco, medium nib to journal. Although, I'm not going to lie- it's a bit difficult to work with. I'm a bit new to fountain pens, so this could be due to my inexperience admittedly. When I stop writing for a minute or so, the ink seems to dry at the feed and I have been reduced to doing the nib in a bit of water to get it flowing again. Full disclosure: this may not be the most appropriate technique. When it finally gets going though, it's a wonderful ink. I would only use it for leisure though- not business- as it isn't dependable enough.

Clogs a bit, worth it.

I love this ink. It's beautiful. It's like writing with liquid chalk. It dries quickly and is semi-translucent at first. Add more layers for a more opaque effect. My only complaint is it dries in my pen and clogs it. I first tried it in a refillable rollerball pen. It worked great at first, but one day later, it was clogged. It works fairly well in my medium nib fountain pens. If I don't use the pen for more than a day, I have to swish it in some water and wipe the nib a few times before it will flow again.

De Atramentis white ink

Just used this a couple of times and love it on toned paper. Used it to sketch a snowy owl and loved the way the ink flowed and covered. I need to go over to make it lighter and like that for shading. I am very happy with the ink.

A bit disappointed

I'm not terribly happy with this ink. It's not as opaque as I would expect white ink to be. I filled my TWSBI pen that I bought at the same time and the lines I'm able to make at this point seem fairly transparent. I know it's ink but being white I thought it would write over watercolors and on black paper more opaquely. Maybe I just need to break in the pen I tried shaking up the bottle but then just air in the pen!

Shake that thing

The idea of white ink is fantastic!! This ink is 'gel pen' like, but it does require shaking the pen. The first 10-15 strokes are not visible. It is still lovely ink, but the shaking and the initial lack of ink is why I give it 4 stars.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which pens can accept this ink? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Any of these fountain pens will work with bottled ink. Typically, as long as the pen can be filled with a converter, has a built-in filling mechanism like a piston, or can be eyedropper-filled, it can accept bottled ink. You can also refill an empty ink cartridge from bottled ink using an ink syringe.
