2ml sample of Diamine Night Sky shimmering fountain pen ink, in a labeled plastic vial. Black with silver shimmer.

Due to the amount of particulate in this ink used to achieve the sparking look, you may experience restricted ink flow in some of your pens. We recommend shaking the ink thoroughly before filling and gently rolling the pen in your hands often to keep the shimmer effect consistent. This will also help prevent clogging. You will also want to be diligent about cleaning and maintaining your pen when using this ink.

Awesome Grey Ink!

This is a beautiful grey ink with shimmer in it. I wanted to try this out and loved the look. I love the Diamond brand anyway and this ink doesn’t disappoint.

talented brilliant incredible amazing show stopping gorgeous

This is not the silvery-gray glitter bomb that you'd expect in the swatch, but a rich and saturated black with just enough glitter that it looks, well, like the night sky. I would swear that the "silver shimmer" has ever-so-subtle green and purple specks in it. This is a well-behaved, well-lubricated ink that flows great even when I was drawing with my broad nib upside-down... effectively a fine nib at that point and not a single clog or stutter.

good shimmering ink

For me it comes out as a medium grey color with nice shimmer to it. It's kind of a subtle shimmer but nice effect.

Wonderful!

The items ordered arrived in a very timely manner. The packaging was very nice! They took the extra step to make me feel appreciated and cared for as a new costumer. I will definitely be buying from Goulet again!

Very wet, good line, and subtle sparkle

My daughter was interested in this color, and I picked some up for her to try. The ink was very nice, but the shimmer is pretty subtle, so if you aren't laying down swatches of the stuff, don't expect a high silver look. Instead, you can expect a solid, saturated black with a silver-ish sheen to it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is shimmering ink safe to use in fountain pens? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Yes! Shimmering ink (a fountain pen ink that has small particles of glitter mixed in) is a great way to add some flare to your writing. We have found that a larger nib will showcase more shimmering particles while writing, but you can use any nib size with shimmering ink. While it is safe to use in fountain pens, it may require a little extra maintenance.

Due to the amount of particulate in this ink used to achieve the sparking look, you may experience restricted ink flow in some of your pens, especially with finer nibs.

We recommend shaking the ink thoroughly before filling, and gently rolling the pen in your hands often to keep the shimmer effect consistent. This will also help prevent clogging.

You will also want to be diligent about regularly cleaning and maintaining your pen when using this ink.

How do I fill my fountain pen from an ink sample vial? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

The technique depends on the fountain pen's filling mechanism.

How much writing can I really do with 2ml? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We find that usually you can get 2 good fills for a typical converter with our ink samples, or one good fill with a large capacity piston-filling pen.

How much writing you can do depends on you more than anything else. It mostly depends on how big or small you write, and the nib size you’re using. We recommend experimenting with different nib sizes to find what works best for you.
