Great shading

This ink is a great shader, and it is still work appropriate. I think this ink is in my top 5!

Favorite ink so far

I use this in my TWSBI Diamond 580, with a fine nib and with a 1.1mm stub. It is definitely my favorite ink out of the fine nib - the ink takes a bit longer than usual to dry, but has strong teal to (essentially) black shading, and is precise. It works best on higher quality paper (ex. Rhodia). But it's definitely my favorite ink so far - unique in its color, shading, viscosity and usability. It works well out of the Stub nib too, but the color isn't quite as potent and it doesn't dry the same (though it still has very heavy shading).

Bought the full bottle immediately - it's that good!

I have a pretty large collection of teal & blue ink samples. Colorverse Gravity Wave immediately became my favorite. It's so saturated, and it really pops off the page. It makes all of my other teal inks look pale and washed out by comparison. I do think Colorverse inks are super overpriced. The sample price is okay (thanks Goulets! :) ), but I'd much rather have the option to buy a single bottle of ink, rather than the weird brand thing of getting two different bottle sizes in 1 package. It seems so gimmicky, which is why I'd avoided trying Colorverse inks. But I love this color so much that I ordered the bottles before I even wrote my pen dry. It makes my soul sing. It's pretty on Rhodia, but for max shading and sheen, one has to use it on Tomoe River. But that's par for the course. It does dry pretty slowly. I seem to have a knack for smudging it. Still the color makes up for it.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fill my fountain pen from an ink sample vial? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

The technique depends on the fountain pen's filling mechanism.

Check out our blog post on How to Fill a Fountain Pen from an Ink Sample Vial, or watch the video here:

How much writing can I really do with 2ml? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We find that usually you can get 2 good fills for a typical converter with our ink samples, or one good fill with a large capacity piston-filling pen.

How much writing you can do depends on you more than anything else. It mostly depends on how big or small you write, and the nib size you’re using. We recommend experimenting with different nib sizes to find what works best for you.
