Conklin All American Fountain Pen - Raven Black
The Conklin All American is an oversized yet comfortable fountain pen.
This fountain pen is offered with your choice of a reliable, smooth-writing German made JoWo #6 steel nib in extra-fine, fine, medium, broad, or 1.1mm stub, or the new JoWo Omniflex flexible steel nib for variation in line width. With six nib options, you are sure to find a selection to fit your handwriting style.
Our note about the JoWo Omniflex nib: This flex nib will allow you to experience more bounce and softness than writing with conventional nibs. You can achieve some line variation with a little additional downward pressure, to a point. We recommend flexing the nib to about twice the line width that you would see without using any pressure. Please take care to avoid pressing too hard on the nib, as over-flexing could prevent the tines from returning fully to their original position and decrease or stop your ink flow.
Crafted from high-grade, hand-made European resins, the Conklin All American is impressively large in size, yet not so big as to be uncomfortable in the hand. The screw cap and barrel are carefully tapered to provide a nice balance. The trademark Rocker Clip allows users to easily secure the pen to a shirt or coat pocket. The All American comes with a threaded, standard international converter and also uses reliable (short or long) standard international cartridges.
The Conklin Pen Company was established in 1898 and is still regarded as one of the most significant and innovative manufacturers from what is today known as the Golden Era of fountain pens.
During the 1930s, at the dawn of the depression, Conklin launched a collection that was priced more affordably to the general public. The "All American" collection was offered in a variety of sizes, filling mechanisms and finishes with the aim of satisfying a growing market demand for good quality, but affordably priced writing instruments. Today this pen pays homage to the classic designs of the vintage Conklin era.
The All American collection draws its inspiration from the rich heritage of the Conklin brand, which was purchased and revived by Yafa in 2009. The rebooted All American is manufactured in Asia, assembled and distributed from Canoga Park, California, and pays tribute to its roots with a "Toledo, Ohio" engraving on its nib and barrel. This collection brings a vibrant, contemporary style to a classic, oversize streamlined design.

I like this pen a lot. Great size and price. Recommend.
My hands don't work like they used to and this has become the pen in my pocket all the time thanks to its size which makes it easy to write with. With drier inks it skips when you write fast but at a relaxed pace its fine. Great clip too.
I wish I could give half stars this is a 4.5 star pen. Everything about it is great except that the feed is a little slow. Writing that any of my lamy pens can handle without a problem this one skips a lot. If i slow down the skipping is much less. Using the free ink i got when purchasing it it did not perform well but switching to azurite it works much better. This pens likes some inks better than others. If you dont own a lot of different inks this pens is more like 4 stars because it shouldn't be so finicky but since i can easily switch the problem is very minor. Everything else about the pen I love. I do feel like the packaging is very wasteful. I keep this guy clipped inside a shirt pocket by day then put it in its case by night but I think that's more the novelty of the case. I'd much rather it just be in a cardboard tube or something and make the pen 10 bucks cheaper. Think about it, if i started collecting these... what am I going to do with all the boxes? I would just put them all in a pen organizer to save space. I'm sure boxes and presentation are a preference thing. I don't know, seems wasteful.
It’s black, it’s beautiful, it’s writs as smooth as the ebony finish on a Steinway. It should, it’s a Conklin. Also nice feel

Using it with the flex nib. Love the classic mid-20th
Century look and feel. Solid writing instrument. I find myself looking for excuses to use it. I also like that the converter needs to be screwed in, not simply pushed in, makes for a more secure connection. Right size, well-balanced, a pleasure to use, though thet depends a lot on your choice of nib.
