It is what it says, red and black

Somewhat on the dry side but not too dry. In a broad nib it lays down as kind of a brick brown color, but when it dries the saturated parts turn into black highlights in a red ink. Very cool

I love this ink

I absolutely love the color of this ink, I got the sample to see how it matches my pilot e95s in burgundy, and it is a perfect match, its such a beautiful ink.

Favorite Dark Red Ever

BEAUTIFUL color and high amount of shading! I'm going to buy a bottle of this.

Nice ink, definite contender ...

What I like about this ink is that it dries differently on different paper. It was a nice red on my plain letter tablet and a burgundy on my Rhodia. It flowed smoothly and had a nice consistency. I used it with both an extra fine nib and a medium nib and liked the look with both. I'm searching for my signature color and this is a contender.

What?

The sample I received does not remotely look like something one might call Red-Black. It was a very light red/orange. I ordered another sample to see if this is an anomaly or mistake or if that is indeed the color intended.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fill my fountain pen from an ink sample vial? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

The technique depends on the fountain pen's filling mechanism.

Check out our blog post on How to Fill a Fountain Pen from an Ink Sample Vial, or watch the video here:

How much writing can I really do with 2ml? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We find that usually you can get 2 good fills for a typical converter with our ink samples, or one good fill with a large capacity piston-filling pen.

How much writing you can do depends on you more than anything else. It mostly depends on how big or small you write, and the nib size you’re using. We recommend experimenting with different nib sizes to find what works best for you.
