Diamine Oxblood - 80ml Bottled Ink

I received a free sample of this ink a few months ago and loved the color and the way it flows. I purchased the 80ml bottle and almost always have a pen inked with it.

O' To Write in The Blood of an Ox!

I read some of the reviews about this ink being more brown than red. Not sure why folks experienced that. This is decidedly a dark blood red ink. I use it in my journal for days on end and it goes down deep dark blood red and stays that color as it dries.

As a point of reference, I've been printing my journals on HP 32 Premium paper, which is a fairly bright white paper. I got the same results in my Rhodia journal, which has a much warmer / natural color of paper.

The ink flows well and consistently from both my LAMI Safari and TWSBI ECO. The flow is more generous from the LAMI Safari, which probably means the difference is the pen and not the ink.

Some reviewers said they had a drying time issue, I have not found this to be an issue. It dries plenty fast that when I finish writing a page and turn that page there is no smearing. Perhaps the drying time issue has more to do with the paper than the ink? It also does not flow excessively to the point where ink bleeds through the paper. Just enough to create a consistent and clean mark.

It is not a water fast ink, but I will say that Ox Blood on my hands takes a bit more scrubbing to remove than say Noodler's 54 Massachusetts, which simply loves to run and flow. Then again, I am no Dexter, and not use to washing blood off my hands.

If you like the idea of a dark blood red ink, then I would definitely give this ink a try. I just ordered a 20 ml bottle and will be using this when ever the spirit moves me to write a bloody journal entry or sign a pirate's oath in blood! :-) Alarmingly and somewhat ghoulishly, this seems to be happening more often than I care to admit!

New to the pen world

So when I got the Diamine oxblood I did a lot of research thinking that I could have been a bad ink for my lamy safari but how I could have been wrong it is a good and hardy ink that both functions amazing and looks amazing

Frequently Asked Questions

Which pens can accept this ink? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Any of these fountain pens will work with bottled ink. Typically, as long as the pen can be filled with a converter, has a built-in filling mechanism like a piston, or can be eyedropper-filled, it can accept bottled ink. You can also refill an empty ink cartridge from bottled ink using an ink syringe.
