Mixed feelings

I really love this color, I just can't quite decide whether it is the ink and pen combination or the ink itself that doesn't work for me. Some days the ink seems so watery and other days it seems dry. I still like the color though. Guess I need to experiment with it more.

Unique but beautiful shade of purple!

I'm currently using this ink in my Cross Botanica, and it's got a beautiful wet flow and gorgeous shading. I love this purple.

My favorite ink!

I love this ink. I'm a new fountain pen user, so I don't have that much experience, but it's far and away my favorite of the inks I tried. It's incredibly well behaved. It writes smooth and wet, at least with a TWSBi Eco with a broad nib, but not so wet that it gushes. For comparison it's wetter than J. Herbin Violette Pensee, J. Herbin Perle Noir, and De Atrementis Document Violet, and it's drier than De Atrementis Aubergine. I've had no hard starts with it, and only one incidence of skipping -- and that was when I was very low on ink. It doesn't usually feather, even on cheap paper, and I only experienced a tiny amount of bleed through with cheap copy paper and a broad nib, not enough to not use it, nor even enough to bother me.Some other random things about it: It's a much thicker ink than others I've tried. Most inks in my demonstrator kind of flow or slosh when moved, but this ink tends to move more in a clump. It's pretty saturated, though not as much as De Atrementis Aubergine. It does not have that awful chemical smell that I'm learning some purple inks seem to have. It's pretty easy to clean out of a pen -- not as easy as Perle Noir, but easier than anything else I've tried. I'd definitely recommend it for beginners.Colorwise, it's a purple that is hard to pin down. It can look many different colors depending on light, paper, amount of pressure used, what is under the page you're writing on, how much ink is left in the pen, and probably on nib size, too. It's definitely purple, and a muted or dusty purple, at that. But it can also look pink, burgandy, brown, or gray. It has tons and tons of shading. It *might* be able to me used in professional settings, but I'm not in white collar work and I'm not sure. It's not a loud color, though, and it's easy to read back. For those who like to color match their pens and inks, it goes great with the TWSBI Eco in Lilac once the ink is on the page. However, when the ink is in the pen, it just looks black. I'm definitely going to buy a bottle of this, and I plan to always keep it stocked. In fact, if Goulet sold this in the 100 ml bottles, I'd buy that. My solitary complaint about this ink is that it's not water proof, or even water resistant. I'm not taking a star off of my review for that, because it isn't advertised as or intended to be water proof or water resistant. If it was, though, I'd rarely use another ink.

Gorgeous and well-behaved ink!

J'adore Herbin Poussire de Lune ! I ordered this ink with 4 or 5 other ink samples, and this one was my favorite along with Diamine Oxblood. This purple is muted, but the behavior of the ink more than makes up for that. The writing experience is incredibly smooth, and the ink looks so crisp and fresh on Rhodia paper. It is neither wet or dry... it's perfect! I highly recommend this ink to anyone who tends to like neutral, old-fashioned colors.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fill my fountain pen from an ink sample vial? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

The technique depends on the fountain pen's filling mechanism.

How much writing can I really do with 2ml? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We find that usually you can get 2 good fills for a typical converter with our ink samples, or one good fill with a large capacity piston-filling pen.

How much writing you can do depends on you more than anything else. It mostly depends on how big or small you write, and the nib size you’re using. We recommend experimenting with different nib sizes to find what works best for you.
