Beautiful writer, feels amazing in the hand, checks all the boxes for me. There’s so much more I could say, but I’ll just leave it to this, I treasure it :)
This is such a cool pen. It's much thicker than I was expecting it to be. I have a Delta Duna and I was expecting it to be in that ballpark of size, but no, this is way fatter. It feels like holding a Crayola marker. Lucky for me I have giant hands. (XXL gloves) So I write with it posted and it looks normal in my banana hands. Seriously though, if this is mid size, I want nothing to do with oversized!
Jowo nibs are nice stock but I swapped mine out immediately for a custom omniflex from fpnibs. They extend the slit in the tines down further into the nib allowing for a very bouncy and flexible feel with great line variation. I paid extra for them to grind it to an extra extra fine. Now it basically writes like a smooth version of a zebra/Nikko G.(Dip pen nib) This is an expensive upgrade but the pen deserved it. I am new to flex writing but I'm having a blast with this type of nib.
The pen is gorgeous. Blue is my favorite color and this one is a nice vibrant deep shade of blue. I wish more of it was demonstrator instead of the cracked ice look only because it's my 3rd pen with that type of pattern.
The piston action is very smooth. There is a blind cap that removes to expose a metal **** for the piston. Operating it doesn't take excessive force and when you've backed up completely you will hear and feel click similar to a torque proof screwdriver. I've only had it for a day and used up a whole fills worth of ink because I wrote so much. I wish it held more ink because the see through demonstrator portion is mostly filled with the piston mechanism and you only get to see a little bit of ink. Probably half of what's actually in there. So despite it being a demonstrator, you only get to see about an ink windows worth of ink in the pen.
The cap posts making it quite long, I wish it went deeper into the body, it doesn't fully cover the blind cap when posted.
I know this uses jowo nibs, but for some reason I couldn't unscrew the nib unit and housing out of the pen like with my Delta Duna. I didn't want to push it further so I just pulled the nib and feed out in order to retrofit the custom omniflex. Something to take note about if you plan on swapping nibs.
Overall, I love this pen. If you like the look and don't mind a girth pen, it's a joyful writing experience. Even with the stock nib. If you get the semi flex omniflex it's even better to write with even if you don't flex it.
