Surprised not to like it

I expected to love this ink. The quality is, of course, great, but I find the color a bit too garish.

Vibrant and Saturated!

I really love the way this ink actually displayed itself. The swab from the swab shop is on point, and in my journal, the color really pops on the page..really brightens up the place. Great ink, super good flow, nice saturation. It's not at all like an Apache Sunset or an Operation Overlord Orange..really not much of a shader. Literally like a persimmon in color. Really like it.

It's more orange than red

I was eagerly looking forward to testing out this ink based on the swabs provided. But after testing it out, it is more orange in real life than red. It isn't a very saturated color either and no shading noted. Although it wasn't what i expected, I liked using it to underline printed material for editing and/or studying. The red ink that I settled on eventually that is simply outstanding is J. Herbin 1670 Rouge Hematite which I'll rate next time.

Great orange-red - warm

This is a warm orange, it has enough red in it to make it less of a shocking orange. It's not quite the autumn orange I was looking for, but close. PRICE: The Iroshizuku line is superior (flow, consistency, color saturation,...). I HATE the price, but that's something Pilot needs to sort out (Goulet's price is great). If Pilot made iroshizuku more affordable it would be the only brand of ink I use.

There's something melon-ish about this

There's something almost pastel about this color. It's a very soft orange that almost veers toward pink. Iroshizuku are great inks, but this color isn't exactly for me.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fill my fountain pen from an ink sample vial? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

The technique depends on the fountain pen's filling mechanism.

How much writing can I really do with 2ml? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We find that usually you can get 2 good fills for a typical converter with our ink samples, or one good fill with a large capacity piston-filling pen.

How much writing you can do depends on you more than anything else. It mostly depends on how big or small you write, and the nib size you’re using. We recommend experimenting with different nib sizes to find what works best for you.
