This Namiki Yukari Royale Urushi maki-e fountain pen was created by maki-e artisans (kokkokai) in Japan. It features the Roiro Urushi technique in solid vermillion red. The pen has an 18k gold nib in size #20, fills via cartridge/converter (a CON-70 is included), and comes packaged in a wooden box with a bottle of ink.

As these pens are truly one-of-a-kind pieces of art, they are warrantied for life by Namiki.

Please allow us up to several extra days for shipping of this pen. Please also note we are unable to accept a return of this pen for any reason once it has been used with ink. Please thoroughly inspect and dry test the pen before use.

Con40 in a $1600 pen? Standard Converters etc for Europe

My husband bought me a pen that is gorgeous, perfect for my hand, perfect weight, wonderful feel as pen crosses paper but that doesn't last long because I keep having to refill the converter! It's almost impossible to fill beyond 30% at best. May this be the worst problem of my life but this is the same converter (in terms of how much ink I can get) as my Falcon and metal Falcon. Your offer of a Con70 when I searched this term on your site gives me hope. The only reason we did not purchase from you - is because my birthday came around before you had it in stock. This is a stunning pen: I have long hands for a woman but I do not to well with pens bigger than this. I did not expect to have to use the syringe to refill a cartridge to get more ink into this otherwise awesome pen. I am sorry to sound so ungrateful: the cartridge came as a bit of a shock. Thank you for being a leading light for serious if new fountain pen users.....A

Beautiful

The red color is stunning. Its a big pen, solid in weight but not a brute. Good for journaling, or signing documents on a desk that shares alongside its elegance. Perfect pen for ladies even those with small medium hands like myself. This pen made me dance the FUTTERWACKEN.. Have not inked the pen, it awaits its turn on rotation. Have namiki which writes smoothly so I am positive this one will perform without issues.

A masterpiece !

First of all, the way my order was treated by the Goulet Pen Company was more than perfect. A personalised attention to my request, a quick and processional processing. Special thanks to Susan. The pen is a true masterpiece. Heavy and well balanced, a true pleasure to work with it. The nib is so smooth and precise. I loaded it with a Momiji color Namiki ink and it has taken a central place on my desk not far from my hand.

Great writing

I bought this pen month ago (after I bought the other Namiki), both Namiki are the best amongst all the fountain pens that I had (I had few Montblanc, Visconti, waterman, Parker, St. DuPont, Lamy, Platinum). My advice: just have the best one, it makes writing such a pleasure.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fill this pen from an ink cartridge? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

A cartridge is small, disposable, sealed plastic reservoir that holds fountain pen ink. These come pre-filled with ink, and typically you just push to insert them into place and you'll be ready to write!

This pen uses proprietary Pilot ink cartridges, which are available in a wide range of colors.

You can learn more about how to actually install an ink cartridge on our blog, or in this video tutorial:

How do I use a converter? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

A converter goes in the place of where the ink cartridge would normally go. From there, you can fill your fountain pen from bottled ink.

A converter is a detachable and refillable ink reservoir that allows you to use bottled ink in a cartridge-accepting pen. Typically you will install the converter into the grip section, dip the nib/feed into the ink, and twist or pull the converter knob to draw ink into the converter.

We have a great video showing how to use a converter here:

How do I clean this fountain pen? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

It mostly comes down to flushing out the pen with water, and sometimes a little bit of pen flush if the ink is really stuck.

We put together a blog post with step-by-step instructions, or you can watch the video here:

We recommend a good cleaning every 2 weeks, and any time you change ink colors. Water will usually do the trick, but we recommend you use our Goulet Pen Flush if the ink has been left in the pen for a while and could have dried up, or when you’re switching ink colors.

For even more information about fountain pen cleaning, check out our Fountain Pen 101 video blog post.
