Very poor inkflow managment.

The wings flexes nicely, but after trying with 10 differents inks, even the more dry ones, papers (including paper 200 gr for watercolor "opalina", the ink leaks, the pen is way too wet. For intance even doing thin lines without spreading the wings of the nib, results in an almost medium line that spends 10 minutes to dry. When doing Copperplate... a nightmare. If it were possible for me I should retrieve the pen, but I cant as I asked a friend of mine that was travelling to USA just to bring me this pen. A month has passed. The worst purchased I did. Too munch expectations on this pen. I will have to save for a long time to purchase another 149 montblanc calligrapher for travel... This is was not disapointing. Was a DISASTER.

The feed does not keep with the flexibility of the nib.

When you push a little the pen start to railroading!

Updated to 4 stars!

Ok, I'm re-reviewing and adding a star. I put the pen away for a couple months, then decided to try and heat-set the feed before I resold it. I followed the general instructions from Brian and other YouTubers, soaked just the nib and feed in near-boiling water for about 30 seconds, and gave it a squeeze. When I dried it and re-inked, it was much better about the ink flow - I was able to back off the pressure and get a thinner line much more easily than before the heat setting. My handwriting is nowhere near as pleasant as Drew or Brian's, but I've included a small sample (Pilot Syo-Ru on Claire Fontaine 90g/m_). I'm happy with the pen now - not so much as my Pilot 823, but that's my gold standard (ha!)

Get a different pen

I was very excited to get this pen in the mail. Since then, I've had nothing but problems with this pen. It won't write a whole sentence without hard starting. Sometimes it doesn't write at all. I would go with a different flex nib, until the company can make its quality assurance more reliable.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I use this pen with ink cartridges? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

A cartridge is small, disposable, sealed plastic reservoir that holds fountain pen ink. These come pre-filled with ink, and typically you just push to insert them into place and you'll be ready to write!

This pen uses standard international ink cartridges, a common size which is available in many colors from various brands.

You can learn more about how to actually install an ink cartridge on our blog, or in this video tutorial:

How do I use a converter? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

A converter goes in the place of where the ink cartridge would normally go. From there, you can fill your fountain pen from bottled ink.

A converter is a detachable and refillable ink reservoir that allows you to use bottled ink in a cartridge-accepting pen. Typically you will install the converter into the grip section, dip the nib/feed into the ink, and twist or pull the converter knob to draw ink into the converter.

We have a great video showing how to use a converter here:

How do I clean this fountain pen? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

It mostly comes down to flushing out the pen with water, and sometimes a little bit of pen flush if the ink is really stuck.

We put together a blog post with step-by-step instructions, or you can watch the video here:

We recommend a good cleaning every 2 weeks, and any time you change ink colors. Water will usually do the trick, but we recommend you use our Goulet Pen Flush if the ink has been left in the pen for a while and could have dried up, or when you’re switching ink colors.
