This pastel pink Diplomat Aero fountain pen features a Zeppelin-inspired anodized aluminum body with groove-like depressions on the barrel and cap. It has a satisfying soft sliding click cap that posts securely onto the barrel when writing. It features a smooth writing #6 JoWo stainless steel nib, matte chrome grip and trim, and fills via standard international cartridge/converter (both are included).

This pen features a custom nib grind by Gena Salorino of Custom Nib Studio, into a medium cursive italic. It’s slightly more crisp than your typical stub, for a more distinct line variation. But the corners of the tip are ground smooth so it feels nice on the page.

Note: The converter you receive may vary from what is pictured here.

Awesome custom grind

Thank you to Drew for showing us how to open the boxed pen from Diplomat! I would have taken a crow bar out on that thing. Happy times with my new Diplomat Aero with the custom grind by Gina Solerno. Please give us more like this. D.

Great pen, customer service

The first pen that arrived had a small patch where the paint had chipped away, probably during the manufacturing. The exchange process was really great, so now I know it's not just the front-end of the customer experience that's excellent. The replacement pen was perfect, with a personal note from the person who inspected it. The return package also came with another free sticker and mini lollipop, an unexpected but happy surprise. The pen itself is growing on me. This wasn't my first or even second preferred color choice, but I wanted to try the custom cursive italic nib but my first choice didn't have that option and my second was sold out. I'm not used to writing with this type of nib, but it's like the pen is guiding me and I'm happy to go along with it. And I like the weight and textured ridges, it adds to the tactile experience. One thing I've noticed is that I end up holding this pen close to the nib...not because the metal is slippery...but because this just seems to be where my hand lands and then it gets all inky, not a huge deal. A few days in it just completely stopped writing...even though there was plenty of ink. Gave it a couple of shakes and it was back to normal.

Don't wait!

Being a southpaw and fairly new to fountain pens I'm nervous to purchase any new pen. This one I almost waited too long. Pink is not one of my favorite colors but this shade is beautiful in person. This pen and nib are simply amazing! So smooth, beautiful line variations, and I don't have to change my grip or style to be able to write beautifully. I have a new favorite

Sleek and Elegant

The Aero Diplomat pen is a beautiful pen to see, a pleasure to write with, with its buttery smooth nib and a joy to use! I like to match pens with inks, so this is inked with Iroshizuku Kosumosu, a pretty pink to match the Antique Rose color I selected. This is a beautifully made pen and I recommend it highly!

Love, love, love this pen

I just got this pen today... I love it. It writes so smoothly. It needs to be posted for a better balance in the hand, but...dang... It writes really well. I'm so glad I invested in this pen with the custom nib grind. Paired this with the purple murasaki-shikibu iroshizuku ink. Nice true purple.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I use this pen with ink cartridges? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

A cartridge is small, disposable, sealed plastic reservoir that holds fountain pen ink. These come pre-filled with ink, and typically you just push to insert them into place and you'll be ready to write!

This pen uses standard international ink cartridges, a common size which is available in many colors from various brands.

You can learn more about how to actually install an ink cartridge on our blog, or in this video tutorial:

How do I use a converter? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

A converter goes in the place of where the ink cartridge would normally go. From there, you can fill your fountain pen from bottled ink.

A converter is a detachable and refillable ink reservoir that allows you to use bottled ink in a cartridge-accepting pen. Typically you will install the converter into the grip section, dip the nib/feed into the ink, and twist or pull the converter knob to draw ink into the converter.

We have a great video showing how to use a converter here:

How do I clean this fountain pen? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

It mostly comes down to flushing out the pen with water, and sometimes a little bit of pen flush if the ink is really stuck.

We put together a blog post with step-by-step instructions, or you can watch the video here:

We recommend a good cleaning every 2 weeks, and any time you change ink colors. Water will usually do the trick, but we recommend you use our Goulet Pen Flush if the ink has been left in the pen for a while and could have dried up, or when you’re switching ink colors.

For even more information about fountain pen cleaning, check out our Fountain Pen 101 video blog post.
