All the colors of Fall!

Absolutely beautiful ink comprised of brilliant pink, peach, orange & golden yellow hues. While I will definitely use this in my pens, I also enjoy painting with the thinned inks. My samples were made using a few drops of ink highly diluted with water (more water=more color separation). I merely swatched it out on the back of a cheap sheet of dot grid paper using a watercolor brush. (Disregard the green/blue/blacks you may see. It was bleed through from the swatching I did on the other side.) You can see the beautiful effects created by adding sea salt in some areas of the wet ink. This ink will pair beautifully with the purple, browns & yellow in Noodler's Rome's Burning.

Autumn in a Bottle

This is 1 of 3 Autumn colored inks I bought to try. They are beautiful! I’m using it with my dip pen and it’s such a pretty color.

Beautiful color, not what I was expecting

This color looks much more vibrant in the Goulet pic than it does on my crappy notebook paper I get in the office at work. I liked this color, for art. But it's a little lighter in color than I prefer for work. It's a beautiful color.

beautiful shading!

I wanted to have an autumn-y ink for October, and I put this in an EF nib. It's beautiful! The thing that stood out most to me was the shading - this ink shades even w/ the EF nib on Leuchtturm paper, which doesn't show off ink properties a lot. On Tomoe River Paper it's absolutely gorgeous.Personally I wish this ink was a tiny bit wetter because I'm now realizing that the pen I put it in is on the drier side, but doesn't take away from my 5 stars. If you want a well-behaved, incredible shading orange, get Diamine Autumn Oak!

Pleasantly surprised, writes very nicely.

I am using this ink sample in a Pilot pen with a CM nib. The ink is drier than other Diamine I have tried, and gives some of the best line variation I have experienced with this nib. Though on the dry side, this doesn't have any problems with hard starts or skips, writes consistently, not too slick, no drag, just some nice smooth feedback. The color tends toward a more golden brown shade of orange, subdued autumn color rather than a saturated candy color. This could easily be an everyday ink and I will probably buy a bottle to go alongside my other daily drivers. Side note, I had checked out this orange ink as a substitue for J.Herbin 'Cornaline d'Egypte', which is awesome and in my opinion better than this Diamine, except I don't care for the glitter. This Autumn Oak is very close in color, has similar (but not quite as great) shading, but omits the gimmicky sparkle dust. Herbin wins on color and shading, Diamine wins on everyday use.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fill my fountain pen from an ink sample vial? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

The technique depends on the fountain pen's filling mechanism.

How much writing can I really do with 2ml? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We find that usually you can get 2 good fills for a typical converter with our ink samples, or one good fill with a large capacity piston-filling pen.

How much writing you can do depends on you more than anything else. It mostly depends on how big or small you write, and the nib size you’re using. We recommend experimenting with different nib sizes to find what works best for you.
