Lovely, shimmering AND well-behaved

I bought a sample of this ink last Fall, and finally tried it in a pen (Pilot Parallel 1.5 mm) this month. It's a fairly deep color, muted by plenty of silver shimmering bits that are well-distributed. It rarely gummed up the pen (other shimmering inks are much worse), but I looked at the accumulation of silver in the feed with some trepidation. Well, I cleaned the pen yesterday, after having the ink in there for a month - and with a little pen flush, it cleaned up easily. SInce the feed is quite visible in the Pilot Parallel, I could monitor it well. I am very pleased. I'm so happy with this ink, I'm going to buy a whole bottle.

Beautiful Color

I wanted to compare this color to another that's similar to it. It's a beautiful ink with enough sparkle to keep you intrigued.

So Pretty!

So first of all, this was a much darker blue than I was expecting. This isn't necessarily bad, in fact it made the ink even more elegant, in my opinion. Also, I don't know if it was just my sample or if this is how the ink is, but the shimmer is more subtle than the other Shimmertastics I've tried. It seems to have a more even distribution, rather than overloading in the areas where the ink pools. I like that a lot. And it has a sheen! Not just from the shimmer, but there's an awesome red sheen to it as well, which I LOVE! All-in-all, it's an excellent ink!

Gorgeous Ink

After the Diamine Blue Pearl, this is my favourite Diamine shimmer ink. It has a very rich colour, with hints of reddish-purple as well as the primary blue colour, which, by the way, is also beautiful. If you want a very multi-dimensional ink, this is one of the best. Plus is looks gorgeous in demonstrators.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is shimmering ink safe to use in fountain pens? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Yes! Shimmering ink (a fountain pen ink that has small particles of glitter mixed in) is a great way to add some flare to your writing. We have found that a larger nib will showcase more shimmering particles while writing, but you can use any nib size with shimmering ink. While it is safe to use in fountain pens, it may require a little extra maintenance.

Due to the amount of particulate in this ink used to achieve the sparking look, you may experience restricted ink flow in some of your pens, especially with finer nibs.

We recommend shaking the ink thoroughly before filling, and gently rolling the pen in your hands often to keep the shimmer effect consistent. This will also help prevent clogging.

You will also want to be diligent about regularly cleaning and maintaining your pen when using this ink.

How do I fill my fountain pen from an ink sample vial? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

The technique depends on the fountain pen's filling mechanism.

How much writing can I really do with 2ml? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We find that usually you can get 2 good fills for a typical converter with our ink samples, or one good fill with a large capacity piston-filling pen.

How much writing you can do depends on you more than anything else. It mostly depends on how big or small you write, and the nib size you’re using. We recommend experimenting with different nib sizes to find what works best for you.
