Sparkly.

It is a nice green and brown color. The sparkle added to my drawings of a rainbow trout.

I feel bad that my boyfriend does not fully appreciate the colors because he is colorblind.

Really Needs a High Flow Pen

This ink is entirely gorgeous, but you really have to have a pen that can handle the particle load. It's going to clog most fountain pens, but it works great with a brush, the Pilot Parallel Pens (and can still have uneven fits and starts with those!! Which is pretty remarkable), and with glass and the Kakimori dip pens. The pale green is wonderfully like the copper patina on old copper items, and the copper flake is plentiful and shines so beautifully.

Beautiful but poorly behaved

This is the only ink that has ever clogged my TWSBI ECO medium nib pen. The ink is beautiful, but the copper particulate is so plentiful and heavy that it settles before you can finish writing two sentences and clogs the works. I was able to get this ink to write in my Noodler's Ahab, if I wrote very slowly and shook the pen very often. The green ink, when devoid of particulate, is very watery and feathers easily. This is NOT a good ink for cheap paper. The ink goes down light apple green and drys slightly darker.

Going to need a full bottle

This has easily become one of my favorite shimmer inks over night. I'm in love. The green and copper work so well together. The copper is very present but doesn't completely overwhelm the green so you can still see both very clearly as your write.

Not for a fine nib

The colour is absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately, the copper pigment/shimmer plugged my nib by the second sentence, completely obstructing flow. Granted, the nib was fine. I might try again with a larger nib, or dip pen.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is shimmering ink safe to use in fountain pens? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Yes! Shimmering ink (a fountain pen ink that has small particles of glitter mixed in) is a great way to add some flare to your writing. We have found that a larger nib will showcase more shimmering particles while writing, but you can use any nib size with shimmering ink. While it is safe to use in fountain pens, it may require a little extra maintenance.

Due to the amount of particulate in this ink used to achieve the sparking look, you may experience restricted ink flow in some of your pens, especially with finer nibs.

We recommend shaking the ink thoroughly before filling, and gently rolling the pen in your hands often to keep the shimmer effect consistent. This will also help prevent clogging.

You will also want to be diligent about regularly cleaning and maintaining your pen when using this ink.

How do I fill my fountain pen from an ink sample vial? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

The technique depends on the fountain pen's filling mechanism.

How much writing can I really do with 2ml? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We find that usually you can get 2 good fills for a typical converter with our ink samples, or one good fill with a large capacity piston-filling pen.

How much writing you can do depends on you more than anything else. It mostly depends on how big or small you write, and the nib size you’re using. We recommend experimenting with different nib sizes to find what works best for you.
