Deep purple magenta shader with great flow

I have used others of the Pilot Irosuzuku series of inks and have enjoyed all of them with their subtle shading, but this one really stands out in the spring... especially here in Colorado when we still have snow, but things are trying to bud. This ink really makes me feel like Spring is possible. I use this in my Conklin Rainbow Duragraph, which I switched out the Omniflex for a Fountain Pen Revolution much more deeply flex nib and the results with this ink are incredible. I still have to go slow, for the ink to catch up with the nib, but goodness, it's good at keeping up and not spilling over. In my regular non-flex pens, this ink is a beautiful, even magenta-purple, with the flex nibs on Tomoe River paper, I get lovely subtle shading from magenta to deep purple. This did go on a lot more vivid pink than the purple it dries to, but I really love the readability and that is dries to a color that isn't eye-searing. I was also really happy with the dry times on my calligraphy, even, so laying it on thick it still dries surprisingly quickly. Love this stuff and will invest in a bottle of this as I have already, with the asa-gao.

Favorite ink

I am an ink newbie for sure, so my experience isn't vast, but I have tried several inks and samples. This Yama-budo is simply my favorite all around! It is so beautiful. I keep looking at things I've written with it. Because of it, I purchased the Pilot Iroshizuku sampler set to try their other inks. Will likely buy a bottle even if it is a bit $$$.

Beautiful!

I love this ink! It's vibrant. well-behaved, and a lovely raspberry. I have it in my Twsbi Diamond 580 Iris and it's a perfect combination.

A bold pink that leans into almost being purple.

The ink flows very well. Even in my wetter writing pen it did not make a mess and behaved itself. I got this sample to try it out before buying a full bottle for someone else. The color caught me by surprise in a pleasant way. The color is a wonderful, strong pink that is almost a purple. It is quite easy to read and stands out as a unique and eye catching shade. While not a color I would use at the office, it is one of my favorites to use at home for notes and writing in my journal due to how well it flows and how it looks on paper. It believe I will be getting two bottles of this color at some point.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fill my fountain pen from an ink sample vial? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

The technique depends on the fountain pen's filling mechanism.

How much writing can I really do with 2ml? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We find that usually you can get 2 good fills for a typical converter with our ink samples, or one good fill with a large capacity piston-filling pen.

How much writing you can do depends on you more than anything else. It mostly depends on how big or small you write, and the nib size you’re using. We recommend experimenting with different nib sizes to find what works best for you.
