The TWSBI Vac700R Kyanite Blue comes with a vacuum filler mechanism. This fountain pen features a clear demonstrator body with blue trim and a stainless steel nib accented with blue.

TWSBI's belief is that it is important to allow the user to disassemble and reassemble the pen and completely experience the traditional aspects of owning and using a fountain pen. These pens also come packaged with a wrench and silicone grease. Neither of these accessories are intended to be used immediately, as they are for long-term care and maintenance. Additionally, please use extra care if you choose to disassemble the nib and feed, as the feed is very fragile.

If you're taking apart this pen, note that the mechanism on the Vac700R removes out of the pen in a counter-clockwise direction. This is the opposite direction from other TWSBI pens like the 580.

Great pen

The color is awesome, it writes very smoothly, the only issue I had was completely a rookie user error. This was my first vacation filler and the first time I used it I may have been a little too excited to use it and cross threaded it slightly on the back. Fortunately I caught it soon enough and the only inconvenience was it is a little scratchy when I first go to unscrew it. So I would suggest being very careful and making sure it is lined up perfectly. Would highly recommend.

New favorite Pen

I must say I absolutely love the weight of the pen when posted and the feel of the nib on the page with this pen. Plus, the filling mechanism is awesome. This pen and TWISBI have quickly become my favorite. Thanks Goulet Pen Co. for introducing me to this fantastic brand!

Canā€™t beat the price!

The TWSBI Vac7009 is my go to daily foundation pen. It has a large ink capacity, and it is easy to fill. I have 2 or 3 for each new color so I can experiment with new inks. The pens write well and are comfortable to hold. They are a ā€œwetā€ pen, and they never skip. And, you canā€™t beat the price!

TWSBI Vac700R, Great brand and pen

TWSBI really is a great brand, and I favor the color blue in pens and ink. I like this Kyanite Blue Vac700R so much that I keep one safe at home, and the other knocks about (in a safe case) when I'm away. Great value for price. And Goulet Pen is a reliable seller. Sturdy packages, prompt shipping. Highly recommended.

Kaptivating Kyanite Blue TWSBI

What a beautiful pen! So easy to use and the ink flows well. Love the clear barrel so I can see what and how much ink it holds.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fill a fountain pen with ink? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

It depends on the pen's filling mechanism, which you can find in the Technical Specs section above.Ā

Here's a quick definition of the most common filling mechanisms:

  • CartridgeĀ - A small, disposable, sealed plastic reservoir that holds fountain pen ink. These come pre-filled with ink, and typically you just push to insert them into place and you'll be ready to write! Check outĀ our quick guide here.
  • ConverterĀ - A detachable and refillable ink reservoir that allows you to use bottled ink in a cartridge-accepting pen. Typically you will install the converter into the grip section, dip the nib/feed into the ink, and twist or pull the converter knob to draw ink into the converter. Here's a video forĀ how to fill a cartridge/converter penĀ using a LAMY pen as an example.
  • EyedropperĀ - A pen that utilizes the entire barrel as a reservoir for ink. Ink is directly filled into the barrel, allowing for a high ink capacity. Here's aĀ videoĀ on how to do it!
  • PistonĀ - A type of filling system that uses a retracting plunger inside a sealed tube to draw ink into a pen. They are typically either twist or push-operated. These pens cannot accept cartridges or a converter, and only fill from bottled ink.
  • VacuumĀ - A push-style piston that uses pressure to fill the large pen body with ink. They seal the ink chamber when closed, making it ideal for flying without risk of leaking. Check out our video onĀ how to use a vac filler here.

How do I clean this fountain pen? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

It mostly comes down to flushing out the pen with water, and sometimes a little bit of pen flush if the ink is really stuck.Ā

We put together a blog post with step-by-step instructions, or you can watch the video here:

We recommend a good cleaning every 2 weeks, and any time you change ink colors.Ā Water will usually do the trick, but we recommend you use ourĀ Goulet Pen FlushĀ if the ink has been left in the pen for a while and could have dried up, or when youā€™re switching ink colors.
