This refill for the regular size Traveler's Notebook measures 11cm x 21cm (approximately 4.33in x 8.25in), and contains 12 sheets (24 pages) of white thick blank paper.

This notebook refill is perfect for watercolors because it is water-resistant. Watercolor Paper that is a little thicker and more textured than "012 Sketch Paper" is also perfect for pencil and pen sketches or collages of photos and tickets. The pages are perforated so after you draw on them, the regular size can be sent as a picture postcard, while the passport size is ideal for a hand-drawn card with a message.

Good for watercolor sketching

I’m a professional artist and illustrator. Is this paper of the quality of Arches or Fabriano? No. It is good for simple light washes with pen work. I enjoy the convenience and it gives me freedom to experiment.

Traveler's Notebook and Refills

This is a great product! I have the 8x5.5 Traveler's Notebook System and it is perfect in my computer bag. I am a professional artist and like to carry a portable art studio with me. The watercolor paper holds up well when wet and the next page does not get wet. I also use it for pen and ink sketches with a watercolor wash applied afterwards. I like the sketch paper when using drawing pencils or colored pencils and the kraft paper for old style calligraphy, pointed pen works and colored pencils.

Fantastic watercolour notebook refill.

This paper gives a good result when using watercolour pigments and a water brush.

poor paper for watercolor, unevenly sized

Bought this TN watercolor notebook from another vendor & was so disappointed I asked for a refund. The paper feels like a thick cardstock...but the sizing is inconsistently applied to the page. Water and paint beaded up in irregular patches throughout multiple sheets of the booklet. Very very poor performance. On the other hand, the thin refill notebooks with unlined Tomoe River paper handle light washes just fine, with minimal paper wrinkling. I'm making my own watercolor paper inserts from now on: I haven't found any decent ready made ones in the a5/slim TN size.

Sufficient tester page

So I'm new to the Traveller's Notebook world and I happened across this one negative review of the watercolor paper refill. Having already purchased one that wasn't used yet, I had to see for myself. Per the review, it does feel like thick card stock however not like what I've experienced in the past having worked at an art store. Slightly similar texture yet the weave is noticeably different. I've gotten into doing tester pages first before any studies however a variety of products performed well on the paper. There is practically no show-through and feathering is so minimal it's practically not worth mentioning. The finish is a good mixture of hot press and 90# paper so I'm interested in seeing how it takes light to moderate glazing. I will try out some alcohol markers in a quick study. I'll post that and a quick watercolor sketch of study soon here and on twitter. I use a water brushpen and I don't work very wet or use wet-into-wet techniques often so that likely affects the results.
