Made in Japan, this A6-sized notebook features 80 sheets of white acid-free 80gsm lined paper. The black double wire side spiral binding matches the black plastic cover. The notebook is structured like a daily to-do list – at the top is a blank margin for the date, followed by 7mm lined rulings with a spot for a checkbox on the left. The back side of each sheet is blank, and every page is micro-perforated.

The word Mnemosyne comes from the name of the ancient Greek goddess of memory.

Perfect size for journaling a trip

I chose a Maruman Mnemosyne 197 to bring on a two week trip because it would easily fit in my purse and because of the sturdy cover (really sturdy) and that it was ring bound. The paper though, made me a fan for life. Silky smooth and zero bleed through. It's technically a to do notebook, but I just ignored that aspect and was writing on both sides of the pages. Very little of the dark ink I was using even showed through (using fine nibs).

Perfect Journal For Work

I started using this journal for work and now I can't imagine not using it. It is the perfect size to have on the desk next to my keyboard and mouse. The smaller A6 size is really growing on me! It fits great on the desk without needing to move other things out of the way. Fits in my back pocket and the paper quality is top notch. My stub nibs do not bleed through it. I like that each page has a heading spot for the day. And then some columns to do some sort of check lists of bullet journal symbols. I highly recommend it! I'm now curious if these sell in 3 or 5 packs.

Medical Smock Pocket Notebook

I've had 3 of these over time in the pocket of my smock as a community Pharmacist, and I've purchased 6 more just to make sure I don't run out any time soon. The size is perfect to fit in my smock pocket. Big enough to write thorough notes, but not so big that it gets heavy or bulky. The paper feels SO nice to the touch and to the nib, and is of just the right thickness that I can easily make use of both sides without worrying about the opposite side bleeding through or otherwise muddy-ing up the text on the side I'm using. The paper is ink-resistant enough that it allows the beauty of my personal favorite ink, Emerald of Chivoir, to come through, but not so ink resistant that I have to worry about deliberately leaving the notebook open for extra time to allow the ink to dry lest it smear when closed. The single criticism I can leverage against this notebook is that, after tearing out over 1/4th of the total pages, the binding rings start having problems with keeping the pages and covers properly in-place. I've been able to fix the issue by taking some pliers to the binding rings at specific locations, but overall I tend to retire the notebooks from workday use after I've lost about 50% of the pages, then I transfer all of the important day-to-day info that I keep for reference to a fresh one and use the old one for tasks about the house. Since I BELIEVE that the pocket size of medical uniform/clothing tops (smocks, scrubs, doctor's coats, etc.) are roughly the same, I can readily suggest this product to anybody else who is in the medical profession and a fountain pen enthusiast!
