The Pineider snorkel filler has recently transitioned to a new design. The current version replaces the rubber o-ring with additional steps to ensure that compatibility remains the same.

The easiest way to fill your converter and get every last drop! This Pineider Snorkel Filler is a stainless steel tube with an adapter that attaches to the end of your converter, allowing you to fill your converter directly from small bottles or from low volumes of ink.

It is compatible with most standard international converters, as well as many brands including Aurora, Cross, Kaweco, LAMY, ONLINE, Parker, Pilot, Schmidt K5, and Sheaffer converters.

It does not fit Jinhao, Montegrappa, Platinum, Sailor, Waterman, or the Monteverde Clear, Mini, and Threaded converters.

Makes life easier!

This is such a well thought out little item. It has filled every international cartridge converter that I have tried. It has a very small inner diameter hole and leaves very little air in the filled converter.

Important device

If you are using a fountain pen and HATE ballpoints, it is nice to have when you are filling from a bottle, away from home and cannot afford to make a mess.

I labored for decades without this handy device.

As is undoubtedly the case with many other fountain-pen users, I harbor some luddite tendencies, and as such I had resisted using a snorkel up until now. I can say that this device would have spared me from many inky fingers over the years. It is handy and easy to use. Check the advice on the compatibility of the snorkel with your pens and take advantage of this product if it is compatible with any of your pens. As a dedicated user of fountain pens for many years, I heartily recommend the snorkel.

Doesn't work fit a Cross

Dinged one star because it doesn't fit my cross pen. I should have known better. Cross is extremely proprietary. But it does fit several of my others.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fill a fountain pen with ink? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

It depends on the pen's filling mechanism, which you can find in the Technical Specs section above.

Here's a quick definition of the most common filling mechanisms:

  • Cartridge - A small, disposable, sealed plastic reservoir that holds fountain pen ink. These come pre-filled with ink, and typically you just push to insert them into place and you'll be ready to write! Check out our quick guide here.
  • Converter - A detachable and refillable ink reservoir that allows you to use bottled ink in a cartridge-accepting pen. Typically you will install the converter into the grip section, dip the nib/feed into the ink, and twist or pull the converter knob to draw ink into the converter. Here's a video for how to fill a cartridge/converter pen using a LAMY pen as an example.
  • Eyedropper - A pen that utilizes the entire barrel as a reservoir for ink. Ink is directly filled into the barrel, allowing for a high ink capacity. Here's a video on how to do it!
  • Piston - A type of filling system that uses a retracting plunger inside a sealed tube to draw ink into a pen. They are typically either twist or push-operated. These pens cannot accept cartridges or a converter, and only fill from bottled ink.
  • Vacuum - A push-style piston that uses pressure to fill the large pen body with ink. They seal the ink chamber when closed, making it ideal for flying without risk of leaking. Check out our video on how to use a vac filler here.
