The theme of the latest addition to the Yukari Royale fountain pen line is a new rendition of a beautiful pavilion set deep in the mysterious Chinese mountains. Pavilions are customary in many Asian cultures’ artwork, not only for historical reference but also to symbolize the mysterious depth of the human mind.
The beautiful Night Scene of Pavilion was created through togidashi-taka maki-e techniques, consisting of a burnished-raised design applying a layer of lacquer, sprinkling gold or silver powder and drying with an additional lacquer layer to fix the powder. You will see that stunning combinations of silver and gold powder are used throughout the pen’s artwork with the traditional black lacquer accentuated with gold powder background.
The Yukari Royale Night Scene of Pavilion will be a regularly featured item in the Namiki line. Each pen is carefully crafted and painted with the artisan’s signature, Yutaka Sato (佐藤 豊), from the Kokkokai Maki-e group. The fountain pen has a #20 18 karat gold nib with rhodium accents that features the customary Mount Fuji illustration. It fills via cartridge/converter (a CON-70 is included), and comes packaged in a wooden box with a bottle of blue ink.
Please allow us up to several extra days for shipping of this pen. Please also note we are unable to accept a return of this pen for any reason once it has been used with ink. Please thoroughly inspect and dry test the pen before use.
