The Monteverde Ritma™ collection is inspired by the minimalist movement of the 1960’s and 70’s, where clean lines, straightforward designs and beautiful colors within work were the most prominent. The Ritma Gala is a smaller, pocket-pen version of the original Ritma, that also comes with a lanyard. You can wear your fountain pen around your neck, or remove the lanyard if you don't need it.

An exciting feature of this minimalist pen is the magnetic cap and posting, so secure and perfectly designed to the pen it creates a seal. No need to twist off, gently pull and enjoy the striking pop-action sound of the seal opening, then post to the back to experience the secure magnetic seal there as well.

This fountain pen comes with a #5 Omniflex steel nib. It also comes with a Monteverde Mini converter, and 1 blue and 1 black short standard international cartridge.

Big surprises come in small packages

This pen was a surprise. It looked like your regular size pen but when I unboxed it, it was so cute. It has enough weight to stay balanced when you write and it's stainless finish feels just right in your hand.

Excellent, not for everyone.

I got the black one, with the "flex" nib. I get pretty much as much of a variation in thickness on the down-stroke as I want.
This pen is a bit on the heavy side, with the all-aluminum barrel, so not everyone can expect a 100% "comfortable" writing experience with it. I like it enough, though. The design is straight, no-nonsene, business-like, functional, honest, and thus attractive in its own way. I bought it on the spur of the moment, and I lucked out. If you spend your entire working day wrtiting with a fountain-pen, you might prefer something a bit lighter in your hand.

Perfect carry pen

I like my pens to have a little weight to them and I wanted one small enough to carry easily. This one is perfect for that. It is a smooth writing pen and I like the omniflex nib. With the magnetic cap I haven't had any hard starts so far, even after a week of no use. I recommend this for anyone looking for a good reliable carry pen.

Not quite right for me

I love the feel of this pen in my hand and the satisfying click when the cap snaps on. I thought this might be a good everyday pen for me. Unfortunately, I didn't care for the ink flow...or rather, lack of ink flow. It felt jumpy and scratchy to me. I don't know if this is the pen's fault or my fault for going with a fine nib. For me it felt very dry. I do have a number of other fountain pens, and I guess my personal gold standard is the Lamy 2000. But even my Lamy Safari has a nicer feel and flow.

Likeable pen, lanyard use has a caveat

This little pen is great! At this price, it's a very good value. Writes well. Compact but a small hand can use it unposted comfortably. Like the design and materials. Great option to have the lanyard holding the cap while writing. But, the threads on the barrel loosen. This means that you can lose the barrel to the pen. Ask me how I know. Hoping that it is possible to order a replacement barrel for this pen. If I can get a replacement barrel, I will have enjoy using the lanyard much more carefully, or choosing to eliminate lanyard use. But the lanyard was the selling feature that prompted the purchase.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I use this pen with ink cartridges? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

A cartridge is small, disposable, sealed plastic reservoir that holds fountain pen ink. These come pre-filled with ink, and typically you just push to insert them into place and you'll be ready to write!

This pen uses standard international ink cartridges, a common size which is available in many colors from various brands.

You can learn more about how to actually install an ink cartridge on our blog, or in this video tutorial:

How do I use a converter? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

A converter goes in the place of where the ink cartridge would normally go. From there, you can fill your fountain pen from bottled ink.

A converter is a detachable and refillable ink reservoir that allows you to use bottled ink in a cartridge-accepting pen. Typically you will install the converter into the grip section, dip the nib/feed into the ink, and twist or pull the converter knob to draw ink into the converter.

We have a great video showing how to use a converter here:

How do I clean this fountain pen? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

It mostly comes down to flushing out the pen with water, and sometimes a little bit of pen flush if the ink is really stuck.

We put together a blog post with step-by-step instructions, or you can watch the video here:

We recommend a good cleaning every 2 weeks, and any time you change ink colors. Water will usually do the trick, but we recommend you use our Goulet Pen Flush if the ink has been left in the pen for a while and could have dried up, or when you’re switching ink colors.
