I really wanted to like this...

Pillars of Creation, I wanted to like it. I have like other reviewers tested this on several nib sizes and several different types and weights of paper, and I simply do not see any of the greeen at all. This is the first Colorverse ink that I wasn't impressed or blown away by, so at least there is that. I have a selection of 14 colorverse inks and this is the very first time I haven't been pleased with the product. It still writes nice and in some lights can pass as black ink, but there isnt any of the color shifting at all in this ink for me.

I really tried to love Pillars of Creation

Mystic Mountain is gorgeous. The color and shading is what I was hoping for from Butterfly Nebula (another Colorverse ink). However the larger bottle of Pillars of Creation is really a struggle color. The green sheen is not nearly as visible as what the swatch implies.Have you ever tried those magic eye illusion puzzles, where you blink and squint and cross your eyes to try and see the picture hidden in the picture? I tried that with this ink when using a fine nib on Tomoe River paper and I think I saw green? I saw a green shadow when using a 1.1mm stub nib. Attached is a picture of my attempt... can you see any green?

One lovely ink and one so-so ink

Mystic Mountain is really the standout here, and I am heartbroken it's in such a small bottle. It's has the appearance of a blueish-lavendar shade of gray, but then there is the most beautiful pinkish coral shimmer. I think of mist covered winter mountains at sunrise when I see it. One of the loveliest inks I have seen so far.Pillars of Creation, on the other hand, was very lackluster for me. It's a decent reddish purple ink, but I can think of many that are prettier. The green sheen has been non-existent any time I have written with it. My coworker, who introduced me to both inks, said she has been able to get the faintest bit of green if she writes with a broad nib on Tomoe River paper.

Pillars of creation

It's smooth and beautiful to use, and ordering it was a good experience, because it got here relatively early.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which pens can accept this ink? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Any of these fountain pens will work with bottled ink. Typically, as long as the pen can be filled with a converter, has a built-in filling mechanism like a piston, or can be eyedropper-filled, it can accept bottled ink. You can also refill an empty ink cartridge from bottled ink using an ink syringe.

Is shimmering ink safe to use in fountain pens? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Yes! Shimmering ink (a fountain pen ink that has small particles of glitter mixed in) is a great way to add some flare to your writing. We have found that a larger nib will showcase more shimmering particles while writing, but you can use any nib size with shimmering ink. While it is safe to use in fountain pens, it may require a little extra maintenance.

Due to the amount of particulate in this ink used to achieve the sparking look, you may experience restricted ink flow in some of your pens, especially with finer nibs.

We recommend shaking the ink thoroughly before filling, and gently rolling the pen in your hands often to keep the shimmer effect consistent. This will also help prevent clogging.

You will also want to be diligent about regularly cleaning and maintaining your pen when using this ink.
