Chou Kuro is the blackest ink ever created from Platinum in its 104-year history! An ink that is blacker than black, and 46.8% darker than Platinum's famous Carbon Black, this new permanent ink from Platinum is going to set the new standard of what is possible from permanent black ink in the fountain pen market.

With the growing interest in fountain pen inks in recent years, the variation of ink colors is also increasing. In response to the customersʼ request for a blacker ink, Platinum Pen has developed a new ink that is the best black ink ever in its long history of 104 years since its founding. The new ink, whose blackness has been proven by numerical values, offers an excellent visibility with a clear and intense black color, allowing you to keep memories and records on paper. In addition, it prevents the ink bleeding through onto paper while also being highly water-resistant and fade-resistant after writing, making the ink ideal for writing letters, journals and anything else you want to last a lifetime. Enjoy the true black color like never before.

Caution: Pigmented inks are intended for use in fountain pens, though they require more diligent maintenance and should not be left to dry out in a pen. It is best to clean it from your pen at least once a week to prevent clogging. Certain pens may handle pigmented inks better than others.

My only black ink!

I’m a huge fan of Uni One’s black ink gel pens because of the ink (Guiness World record for blackest ink) and this is as close as it comes in a fountain pen. I personally never have an issue getting my pens clean either.

Blackest Black

As advertised, this is a truly a very black ink. Expensive, so will be reserved for my grailest of pens.

I’m Now a Black Ink Fan

I love inks. All inks and I have way too many. Black had never been my thing until I tried this one. The Platinum Chou Kuro is simply stunning. The blackest-black. It’s a pigmented ink, but I’m running it in some of my fine nibs with no issue. It’s a gorgeous dark black. Highly recommended. It’s such a complete black that I just keep looking at it being amazed at how great the look is.

Beautiful and well behaved

I bought this expensive ink while I was a little buzzed (mea culpa!). I woke up regretting it a little bit: did I need another black ink when I already had Platinum Carbon and Herbin Pearl Noir?!? Well, I certainly didn't need it, but I'm glad I have it. It's rich and dark and is a joy to write with. It's going to be the semi-permanent choice for my Pilot 912 . So, if you've got some money to burn, and you're half-drunk, go ahead and pull the trigger on this gorgeous ink.

Just the best

Best black ink I've ever written with.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which pens can accept this ink? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Any of these fountain pens will work with bottled ink. Typically, as long as the pen can be filled with a converter, has a built-in filling mechanism like a piston, or can be eyedropper-filled, it can accept bottled ink. You can also refill an empty ink cartridge from bottled ink using an ink syringe.
