Smooth and reliable

It's easy to see the value of these for Platinum 3776 Century pens and even for Platinum Plaisirs. They're also useful for Platinum Preppys even though they cost more than the pen. I still have several from almost 10 years ago, still going strong. I just needed some more to accommodate more colors.

Perfectly fits the Platinum Preppy pen. I am very satisfied with this converter.

Leaks Everywhere!

I recently bought one of these converters to go with my Platinum Procyon, and it is a mess! Every time I take the back of the pen off to refill the ink there is ink everywhere. I did some reading after I first experienced the issue and saw a large number of people over an extended timeframe all citing the same problem. It seems to me that it is a QC problem, as not everyone experiences it, but a large number do. So... buyer beware you might end up with a nice converter or you might end up with a dud (a messy dud at that).

It's a bit expensive, but it feels sturdy.

I will say, it's one of the more easier converters to clean in my experience. And the walls of the converter feel thicker than some.

Not a great converter.

Hard to twist/fill, didn't make for good flow, leaky.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a converter? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

A converter is a cartridge-shaped reservoir that allows you to use bottled fountain pen ink, when a cartridge would otherwise be your only option. Fountain pens that have this option are usually referred to as a cartridge/converter pen, or C/C for short.

How do I use a converter? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

A converter goes in the place of where the ink cartridge would normally go. From there, you can fill your fountain pen from bottled ink.

A converter is a detachable and refillable ink reservoir that allows you to use bottled ink in a cartridge-accepting pen. Typically you will install the converter into the grip section, dip the nib/feed into the ink, and twist or pull the converter knob to draw ink into the converter.

We have a great video showing how to use a converter here:

How do I clean this fountain pen? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

It mostly comes down to flushing out the pen with water, and sometimes a little bit of pen flush if the ink is really stuck.

We put together a blog post with step-by-step instructions, or you can watch the video here:

We recommend a good cleaning every 2 weeks, and any time you change ink colors. Water will usually do the trick, but we recommend you use our Goulet Pen Flush if the ink has been left in the pen for a while and could have dried up, or when you’re switching ink colors.
